SENIOR CENTER VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Please call Cypress Senior Center 714.229.2005 for information on volunteer positions at the Senior Center.
Home Delivered Meals - delivers meals to home-bound seniors either via a car or walking routes
Senior Center Receptionist - answers phones, answers simple questions at the counter, helps prepare any mailings, signs up participants for appointments for center events or social services, etc.
Nutrition Center Reception Desk - Greets and signs in Dining Center participants.
Nutrition Center Kitchen help - assist in setting tables for lunches and continental breakfasts also assist in serving food.
Commodities Distribution - assist participants in obtaining free food distribution once a month at the center, prepare necessary reports and paperwork, assemble food distribution packages.
Special Events - assist in any necessary preparation for large center events such as setting tables, greeting participants, blowing up balloons, preparing any decorations, etc.

COMMUNITY CENTER VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Youth Basketball Coaches - (summer and winter) must be 18 years of age and enjoy teaching children the art of playing basketball in a league setting.
Youth Action Committee (YAC) - (September - May) The City appointed Youth Action Committee works in conjunction with the City of La Palma and outside groups for the benefit of the community and its youth. We are looking for high school students who will help promote programs and inform the public about teen opportunities for both cities. Applications will be available in May 2021. Counselor in Training (CIT) - Check back for information about the 2021 CIT program. (Summer) Cypress teen residents ages 14-16 years old. Assist the Recreation staff in providing activities for children 3-12 years old as well as older adults. Areas of interest: Day Camp, Youth Sports, Kids Corner, Parks, Senior Center and Special Events.
Kids Corner - Assist with 3-4 year olds in pre-school setting.
Special Events:
- Spring Egg Hunt - (Saturday before Easter Sunday) assist in preparing the fields for the hunt, taking care of the area where the pictures with the bunny are taken, keeping order before and during the hunt, etc.
- 5K/10K Run - (in July) several positions to fill such as water and popsicle distribution, t-shirt sales, timers, chutes, course monitors, etc.
- Cypress Community Festival - (July) several positions available on the various committees: vendor booths, entertainment, operations,
- Halloween Carnival - (October) assist with decorating for the carnival, staffing the games, clean up, etc.
- Holiday Sing - (December) assist with decorating for Holiday Sing, arts and crafts, games, clean up, etc.
